The credit, which was supposed to expire on November 30 this year, has been extended to next year. The rules have actually been expanded to include folks who have been living in the same home for five years or more. These folks can get a credit of up to $6,500 when they buy a house before the new deadlines. Homes must be under contract by April 30, 2010, and the purchase transaction must be closed before June 30, 2010 for the credit to apply.
