House Exam Inspection and Consulting has received the esteemed Angie’s List Super Service Award for the third year in a row. The Award is presented to less than 5% of the businesses in the entire Angies List organization. Founder, Angie Hicks says, “Our Super Service Award winners are the cream of the crop when it comes to providing the best customer service.”
Company owner, Victor Sedinger, said, “We are very proud to receive this award, because Angie’s List Clients are selective, and they continuously rate our performance, thereby referring us to one another for their home inspection needs.”
Angie’s List Super Service Award winners have maintained a total and overall grade of “A;” have received a minimum required number of reports; are NOT in the Angie’s List “Penalty Box” and do NOT have an unsatisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau. Angie’s List is a “consumer-based” referral service, which provides critiques on performance regarding listed service, professional and retail companies throughout the Fort Worth and Dallas areas. Members looking for referrals to these companies must pay a small annual fee. Businesses, however, must be nominated by a Client or customer in order to be listed.
“No business can buy their way in,” said Sedinger. “That’s what I like about the system. It’s not an advertising scheme. instead, you have to keep pleasing folks with your service.”

South Hills Client and Realtor “Very Impressed”

Our professional home inspector did a home inspection last week for this Client, who was referred to us by a friend. The house was a 1950s ranch style in the South Hills part of Fort Worth. The Client’s Realtor had never used our company before either, so it was nice to hear that we impressed both Nicci and her Realtor. By the way, it also sounds like the Seller is trying to get the items we found fixed. That’s even better, huh?
“Victor,
I just wanted to say thanks! Judy [the Client's Realtor] was very impressed with you as well.
I also wanted to let you know the owner came into town and was to meet with an electrician and plumber today to fix everything- so we’ll see what the next few days hold. You will be top on my list!
I have to say, I know if this house is supposed to be mine it will work out. I struggle with the patience part, but this has been an incredible experience. The right people have been places along the path to help me- you are included. Thank you. I have sent your info to a few friends who are looking as well.
Thank you again for your patience and honesty!”

Energy Retrofit of Older Home Will Pay Off In Lots of Ways

At House Exam Inspection and Consulting, we’ve been helping folks learn how to save money on utility bills for nearly four years now, through our association with Home Energy TuneUp. We’ve helped dozens of families save on their energy usage, by giving them fully itemized reports on the energy-related upgrades and repairs they could make in their homes, how much they could realistically expect to pay for each upgrade, and how long it would take to re-pay the expenses based on energy savings. We’ve had good feedback from these Clients, and we are expanding this service to include full-service energy audits and thermographic diagnostics over the next few months. So stay stay in touch with our website. You might even consider linking to the RSS feed in the upper right corner of this webpage, so that you keep up with the new services.
Now for the big news: We are pleased to report that we (Victor and Carolyn Sedinger) are going to put the program to use in a personal way. We are beginning the retrofit process on our own 1948 bungalow on the west side of Fort Worth. We bought this home while it was a duplex, and rented out the one-bedroom side for the first several years. But as we approach retirement in a few years, we thought it would be nice to turn it into a nicely upgraded single-family home. We have drawn up the plans for the conversion. We have received the quotes from sub-contractors. We have secured the funding, and we will be starting the work on or about January 18, 2010.
Over the next few weeks we’ll give you the basic findings from our own Home Energy TuneUp Report, as well as the RESNET Home Energy Diagnostic Survey. We will use both of these reports, so that the results can be compared and we will have a measurable way to determine the similarities and differences in the programs. We will be able to document the before and after results of the house in relation to air leakage, weatherization, and other variables for energy efficiency.
So, join in and let’s make it a dialogue. We would love to hear from you about your own energy-related questions. Ask us anything energy related. If we don’t know, we will find out for you. And share your ideas and suggestions for helping others save money on their energy costs.
